This website is devoted to the 1955 BBC-TV serial 'Quatermass II', & it's big screen remake from 1957 'Quatermass 2'. Professor Bernard Quatermass was played by John Robinson on the small screen, & Hollywood legend Brian Donlevy for the cinematic version. 'Quatermass' was the brain child of the late Television writer Nigel Kneale, starting with 'The Quatermass Experiment' in 1953, Kneale went on to write a further 2 stories in the 1950s ('Quatermass II' & finally 'Quatermass and the Pit' in the winter of 1958-59). All 3 original stories were turned into films by Hammer, 'Quatermass 2' however is the finest of the 3 stories. The plot concerning Government conspiracy, goes way beyond it's time, & has been an influence on many films & TV shows since, including the 1990's series 'The X-Files'. The plot is also full of twists & turns, it also carries a deep rooted feeling of fear & horror throughout. 'Quatermass 2' is considered by many to be the lesser of the 'Quatermass' stories, we think differently. This website is here to inform, the rest is up to you....I hope you enjoy your visit.
