The Comic Strip Adaption.
A Brief History
In August 1978 the then published Magazine 'Halls of Horror' printed their adaptation of 'Quatermass 2' in comic strip form. The magazines editor Dez Skinn, had changed the magazines name from 'House of Hammer' to 'House of Horror' when the magazine went stateside after issue 17. Thus it was deemed that the Hammer name wasn't the strong draw that it was in the UK & the mag changed it's name. The magazine then changed it's name again, as there was arleady a magazine named 'House of Horror', & so the mag underwent another namechange to 'Halls of Horror'. The comic strip adaption of 'Quatermass 2' itself was superb & really captured a lot of elements from the film, the 1950s style clothing being one of the major attributes.
The strip itself was drawn by the brilliant illustrator David Lloyd, who was commissioned by Dez Skinn to reproduce the film in comic form.
The film underwent a name change due to it now being distributed in the USA, & so the adaptation went out under it's USA title 'Enemy From Space', this did not detract though from what is in effect some fantastic work, backed up with a fine script from Steve Parkhouse. 'Halls of Horror' would disappear after this issue, for reasons unknown. The magazine would re-emerge during the early part of the 1980s briefly, concentrating mainly on more contempary films of that era.
